As some of you who have been keeping up to date with our Escape to France blog will know, we are to close the doors to Maison Laurent and wave goodbye to our final guests on Wednesday 19 October 2016.
Our adventure started in 2008 when we decided to renovate this once neglected house and move to France. Our progress is well documented in earlier posts on our previous blog and now, after a total transformation and seven very busy and successful seasons, our chambres d'hôte is to close. We wish to send a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has stayed with us (some more than others!) and for supporting us over the years with your company, generous comments and encouragement. It has been a real pleasure and we treasure many fond memories of our life in Pieusse.
It is incredibly rewarding to know that this lovely house in this wonderful part of France has brought so much enjoyment to so many people after years of being empty and that it will now continue as a splendid family home ...
... but it will not be our family home - we are to start another renovation, not too far away.
Part of our new project is to create a luxury two bedroom holiday home, or gîte as they are known here in France, with beautiful gardens and a private swimming pool with a view.... a stunning view...... a really stunning view .... available to rent by the week in high season and for a minimum of three nights outside of July and August, work starts on 'Le Petit Cinq' in November and we hope to be open by the beginning of July 2017.
For those who love the local markets and fantastic French produce, a fully equipped kitchen awaits you. You will be provided with the essentials you need to start your holiday and if you are due to arrive late, we can arrange to leave a light supper in the fridge. The gîte will be stocked with beer, a supply of the splendid local wines plus the famous Blanquette de Limoux sparkling wine. What's more our carefully selected wines will be available at 'cellar door' prices.
We promise to keep you posted ...
Many, many thanks to all of you who have shared good times with us at Maison Laurent. We hope to meet again one day.
